Online Grading
The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) serves as the custodian of the FileMaker Online Grading (FOG) system.
Announcements and Reminders
- Grading has finished for the Fall 2007 semester.
- The database will be open with Read Only from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. until January 4th 2008. It can only be reached from on campus.
- Filemaker version 7, 8, or 8.5 is required to access FOG. Older versions including 5, 5.5, and 6 will NOT be compatible with FOG. The newer version, Filemaker 9 has not been tested. Please make arrangements with your netadmin if you do not already have Filemaker version 7- versions 8 and 8.5 are optional.
- Training was held in G90 Uris December 3rd and Wednesday, December 5th. This training is required for new users and optional for those who have attended FOG training in the past. Those who were unable to attend training should subit a ticket to http://tech.sas.cornell.edu/ to discuss other training options.
- Grading start-up files will be downloaded by department users from the FOG website and access is restricted by kerberos to FOG users only.
- The University Registrar offers a batch import service for large courses with more than 50 grades to submit.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Filemaker versions 7, 8 and 8.5 are compatible with FOG. Filemaker 7, 8 or 8.5 must be installed on grading machines.
- The database will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. each weekday. Grades must be submitted from on campus.
- If you are having trouble connecting to the grading database, refer to the FOG instructions and double check the following items:
- Kerberos plug-in must be placed in the Extensions folder of Filemaker Pro (Filemaker 7, 8 or 8.5).
- Log into Kerberos via Sidecar using your personal Netid/password and not a special mailbox.
- If you have a firewall, make sure it is not blocking Filemaker or Sidecar.
- Open the database using the current "Fall2007GradesStartup.fp7"- not a file from a previous semester.
- Log into FileMaker startup file using correct username/password and not your personal netid information.
- Manual grade forms must be properly completed by the department/faculty member, and forwarded to their College Registrar. Forms will be entered into FOG exactly as they are submitted. Any manual grades that appear on the Error Report will have to be resubmitted by the College Registrar.
- FOG should be referenced to fill out the Manual Grade Form. SIS screens 51 and 61 should not be referenced.
- Do not give the Manual Grade Form to the student.

Do not pad credit hour fields with leading or trailing zeros. i.e.:
- .5 credit hour should not be 0.5
- 1 credit hour should not be 1.0

It can be accessed at http://tech.sas.cornell.edu to assure the quickest response. Choose FOG as your department and indicate your question or problem in as much detail as possible, including your computer operating system and contact information.
