The Cornell academic record is considered private under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). A student can view and print their grades by semester from an online service called Student Center (a password-protected student information system). It is a violation of university policy for a student to share their NetID password with family or anyone else.
We urge you to discuss how to share grades and other academic information with your student (should they chose to do so). And, to maintain an open dialogue throughout your student's Cornell career. Family support is essential to your student's success, and we hope that early discussion will encourage ongoing communication and support.
A transcript is an official record of a student's entire tenure at Cornell. It reflects all coursework and grades per term for each school attended within the University and is typically requested for applications to graduate or professional school, scholarships, employers, etc.
Students can order their transcripts online from anywhere in the world through Student Center.
